NJ Native Meg Morris Signs with Sky Blue FC

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (April 14, 2014) – Sky Blue FC announced today the signing of midfielder Meg Morris, who will fill the final roster slot for the New Jersey based side. Per club and league policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Meg will challenge for playing time and provide us with solid defensive play when called upon,” Sky Blue FC head coach Jim Gabarra said.

The Montclair, NJ native was a four-year starter at the University of North Carolina. During her senior year, Morris started in all 24 games she participated in, scoring one goal and adding three assists. Her freshman season, she earned ACC All-Freshman Team status, was a second-team Top Drawer Soccer All-Rookie Team selection, and received second-team Soccer America All-Freshman Team honors as a defender.

Morris also has national team experience at the youth level. She was a member of the U-20 U.S. Women’s National Team in 2010 at the World Cup in Germany. Morris was also a member of the U-15, U-17, U-18, and U-20 National Team pools.

A 2010 Montclair High School graduate, Morris played four years of varsity soccer there and was named the N.J. state high school player of the year in 2009. She earned first-team All-NJSIAA League honors for four seasons as well as first-team All-Essex County honors from 2006-09.
