Sky Blue FC Calls Up Amateurs For May 7 Match Against Chicago

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (MAY 7, 2014) – Sky Blue FC has called up four amateur players to dress in the club’s upcoming matchup against the Chicago Red Stars on May 7 at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and tickets can be purchased

Sky Blue FC will be without U.S. Women’s National Team allocated players Kelley O’Hara, Christie Rampone and Jill Loyden along with Canadian internationals Sophie Schmidt and Jonelle Filigno due to the May 8 match between Canada and USA in Winnipeg, Canada.

Forward Rachel Breton, midfielder Trish DiPaolo, goalkeeper Yirlania Arroyo Fonseca and midfielder Nikki Stanton will suit up for the game against the Red Stars.

Breton makes her return to Sky Blue FC after being called upon twice last season. She saw action in one game for 15 minutes in 2013 during the Sky Blue FC vs. Washington Spirit contest on July 6.  The Manalapan, NJ native is a former member of the Rutgers University women’s soccer team.

DiPaolo is also a former Scarlet Knight, finishing her collegiate career this past fall. She is currently tied for third in career matches played (85) and was one of three captains for the RU squad in 2013. As a redshirt senior in 2011, she changed her number from 18 to 52 to honor Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand.

Stanton was a member of the Fairfield University women’s soccer team for five seasons, missing the 2009 campaign due to rehabbing a knee injury. During the 2013 season, Stanton led the team in assists with seven while also scoring two goals. She was named to the National Soccer Coaches Associate of America (NSCAA) 2013 All-Northeast Region First Team, the fifth Stag in program history to receive the honor.

Fonseca last played for Arenal-coronado in Costa Rica where she won three championships with the squad. She was also a member of the Costa Rican Women’s National Team from 2004 – 2012.
