MORRISTOWN, N.J. (Jan. 28, 2015) – Sky Blue FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that it has waived Japanese midfielder Nanase Kiryu.
“We believe Nana had a good developmental experience in 2014, but she did not have enough time to adjust as well as she had hoped,” Sky Blue FC technical director and head coach Jim Gabarra stated. “We support her move back to Beleza and wish her good luck.”
Kiryu, 25, made 12 starts in 2014, appearing in 16 overall matches during the season. Playing a total of 909 minutes, Kiryu registered one assist and 11 shots on the year. At the conclusion of the NWSL season, Kiryu was loaned to NTV Beleza in the Nadeshiko League, where she has played since 2007.
