Howell, N.J. (June 17, 2019) – Sky Blue FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that it will be supporting two initiatives to benefit Athlete Ally and Play Proud leading up to their Pride Celebration Night on Saturday, June 22, when the team faces Orlando Pride at Yurcak Field at 7 p.m. ET.
A live auction has opened up today for exclusive Nike Pride t-shirts that will be worn by Sky Blue players during the pre-game warm ups on Saturday, June 22nd. Proceeds of the auction will benefit Athlete Ally. The auction will be live up until the 60th minute of the Sky Blue Pride Celebration Night. You can bid on the warm-up tops by clicking here.
Athlete Ally believes that everyone should have equal access, opportunity, and experience in sports — regardless of your sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. Their mission is to end the rampant homophobia and transphobia in sport and to activate the athletic community to exercise their leadership to champion LGBTQ equality.
Sky Blue will also be donating back $5 of every 2019 Pride t-shirt sold during the month of June to benefit Play Proud. The June 22nd Pride Celebration Package will be available for purchase which includes a ticket and a 2019 Pride t-shirt starting at $35.00. Individual tickets and the 2019 Pride t-shirts are also be available for purchase.
Play Proud is an initiative led by Streetfootballworld, a global network of soccer-based organizations who are using the world’s favorite sport as a force for good. Play Proud is working to make the sporting world a better place for LGBTQ+ youth, using a coach-centered approach.
