Kim Shinkle Recognized as First Sky Blue FC Hero Nominee

Sky Blue FC would like to recognize Kim Shinkle of West Deptford, NJ as the first #SBFCHeroes nominee. Shinkle, a Sky Blue Season Ticket Member, works as a registered nurse at ManorCare Health Services. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Shinkle has left her home and family to fight full-time on the frontlines. Earlier this month, she inspired the Sky Blue digital card community-based initiative.

Shinkle was nominated by fellow registered nurse Beth Tachdjian. The two have known each other for over ten years and are both members of the West Deptford Board of Health.

“Kim Shinkle is one of the kindest and most generous people I know,” Tachdjian said when nominating Shinkle. “Putting aside her own health issues she chose to step-up and stay with her patients so they could be cared for by someone they are familiar with. She always thinks of others and is very creative. When I saw this initiative on your website I knew that she would be a perfect nurse hero for Sky Blue FC to spotlight.”

“When Kim joined us for our live #StayHomeOpener events recently and spoke about the impact the letters were having on their residents and workers, we were all moved to tears,” said Sky Blue General Manager Alyse LaHue. “She has been an inspiration for us and it brings me immense joy to recognize her as our first community hero.”

Sky Blue FC commends the work of Shinkle, other healthcare workers, and essential employees who have supported our community during these unprecedented times. We will be announcing additional #SBFCheroes nominees in the coming days and weeks.
