This Sunday, May 24, Sky Blue FC will host its fourth #StayHomeGame as the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) continues to wait out its delayed season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The weekend will be centered around the club’s original Health and Wellness game theme, helping fans find new ways to stay active and healthy while being at home.
The festivities will begin on Saturday morning with Kid’s Yoga led by rookie forward, Kaleigh Riehl, and Sky Blue CFO, Mary Smoot. Participants are encouraged to wear a soccer jersey to the event, whether it be their own youth team, a National Team such as the USWNT, or Sky Blue to show support for their favorite players and teams. Registration is required and can be done here.
On Sunday, the Health and Wellness theme continues with a special version of the Kid’s Club activity book released in the morning. Throughout the day, the club will post videos on social media with tips and tricks to stay healthy during quarantine, at-home workouts for fans to try, and links to various health and wellness resources. At 9:30 a.m. ET, Mary Smoot, and a Sky Blue player will be hosting another round of yoga, with this version for adult participants. Registration is required and can be done here.
“As a professional sports team, our athletes have had to pivot dramatically during this time during our training moratorium,” said General Manager Alyse LaHue. “For our Health & Wellness Day we wanted to share some of these fitness and wellness activities our players have been doing with all of the fans to show that we can all still remain active and healthy even from home!”
The weekend will be wrapped up with the club’s weekly Sunday Trivia Hour at 4:00 p.m. LaHue and defender Gina Lewandowski will be battling it out for a second time to determine a winner in this front-office vs player showdown. Registration is required for this event. Anyone interested in joining, can register here.
The NWSL has extended the training moratorium to May 24th, with no official word on when the regular season will begin. Until then, Sky Blue FC will continue to provide content to fans and keep them updated on the progression of the NWSL season.
