Sky Blue FC players Elizabeth Eddy and Nahomi Kawasumi made appearances for Vittsjö GIK and INAC Kobe Leonessa, respectively, this past weekend. The two players were loaned out earlier this month.
Eddy earned her first start for Vittsjö this past Sunday after playing 45 minutes during her debut with the club on August 16. Appearing at left-back, she notched an assist to help the Swedish side to a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Eskilstuna United FF. With the win, Vittsjö moved up to 9th place in the Damallsvenskan.
Kawasumi arrived in Japan early last week and wasted no time getting on the pitch for INAC. She entered the club’s match on Sunday against the Urawa Reds in the 69th minute, marking the beginning of her third stint with INAC. Despite the team’s push for a late equalizer, the game ended 1-0 in favor of Urawa. INAC now sits at fourth place in the Nadeshiko League Division 1 table.
“One-third of the league matches are over, but the chances of winning haven’t disappeared, so there is no need to be negative,” said Naho regarding the team’s outlook on the remainder of the season after the match.
Both players will be back in action this coming weekend. Eddy and her Vittsjö teammates will face off against Vaxjo DFF on Sunday, August 30, while Kawasumi looks to add to her INAC experience this Sunday against Ehime.
