Sky Blue players Elizabeth Eddy and Nahomi Kawasumi had yet another successful weekend abroad while on loan. Eddy scored her first goal for Vittsjö GIK, while Kawasumi came on in the second half to help INAC Kobe Leonessa secure three points.
After going down early against Vaxjo DFF on Sunday, Eddy responded in the 30th minute, scoring her first-ever goal for Vittsjö. Eddy’s goal started Vittsjö’s comeback, as they scored again in the 32nd and 78th minutes to earn the 3-1 victory over Vaxjo. With the win, the team climbed up to 8th place in the Damallsvenskan standings. Vittsjö is now on a three-game win streak, having won every game since Eddy first appeared with the club.
INAC Kobe also had a strong showing this weekend, defeating Ehime FC 5-0 on Sunday. After coming on in the 70th minute, Kawasumi helped her team stay on the front-foot and close out the match. The victory puts INAC in third place and just four points behind the top spot in the Nadeshiko League 1.
The two clubs will look to continue the success next weekend. Vittsjö will play Uppsala on Saturday, September 5, while INAC will face off against Albirex Niigata on Sunday, September 6.
