Sky Blue forward Evelyne Viens made her first appearance for Paris FC this weekend after recently joining the team on loan. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Eddy appeared for Vittsjö GIK and Nahomi Kawasumi appeared with INAC Kobe Leonessa.
Paris FC opened their 2020-2021 season on Sunday, playing in France’s Division 1 Feminine. The team was up against quite the challenge, as they faced the 2020 European Champions, Olympique Lyonnais. After holding OL scoreless for the first half, Paris FC eventually lost 4-0 to the Lyon-based team. Viens started on the bench for her new club but entered the match in the 57th minute.
In the Swedish Damallsvenskan this weekend, Eddy started her third straight game for Vittsjö GIK. The club defeated IK Uppsala 1-0 on Saturday to jump up to 5th place in the table. With the victory, Vittsjö is now on a four-game win streak, having won every match during Eddy’s tenure with the club.
On Sunday, INAC Kobe Leonessa faced off against Albirex Niigata in the Nadeshiko League 1 season’s eighth matchday. The two teams played a tight match, but Albirex Niigata ultimately prevailed with the 2-1 victory. Kawasumi entered the match in the 57th minute to make her fourth straight appearance for the club in 2020. Despite the loss, INAC is still holding onto the third-place spot in the league.
The three clubs will be back in action next weekend. On Saturday, September 12, INAC Kobe Leonessa will kick off their match against Beleza at 4:00 a.m. ET., while Paris FC will play Soyaux-Charente at 8:30 a.m. ET. Finally, Vittsjö GIK will face Linkoping on Sunday, September 13, at 9:00 a.m. ET.
