By: Emily Mendes

It was a high scoring weekend for Sky Blue’s loaned players Evelyne Viens, Kaleigh Riehl, Elizabeth Eddy, and Nahomi Kawasumi. Viens scored a hat trick in Paris FC’s 5-0 win while Eddy netted an early goal in Vittsjö GIK’s 3-2 victory. Kawasumi and INAC Kobe Leonessa also came away with three points after a 3-0 shutout, putting the team in 3rd place in the Nadeshiko League.

Viens started and played the full 90 in Paris FC’s match against Issy Les Moulineaux on Saturday, October 10. Her first goal came in the 45th minute to give Paris FC a 2-0 lead at the half. Viens wasted no time heading into the second 45 and scored another goal in the 52nd minute. She found the back of the net yet again 6 minutes later in the 58th minute to put Paris FC up 4-0. The hat trick was the first of Viens’ professional career. Riehl made her first appearance for Paris FC on October 3 against Montpellier but did not dress this past weekend. Paris FC moved up five spots in the standings and now sits in 5th place in France’s Division 1 Feminine.

Eddy scored her second goal of the season in the Vittsjö GIK’s match against Umea in the Swedish Damallsvenskan on Friday, October 9. Starting at left back, Eddy scored the only goal of the first half in the 6th minute. Umea equalized early in the second half and added a second goal in the 67th minute. Vittsjö GIK made a thrilling comeback in the final moments, scoring in the 90th and 92nd minutes. Eddy played 83 minutes in total during the 3-2 victory. The win extends Vittsjö’s unbeaten streak to eight matches and keeps the club in 5th place on the leaderboard.

On Sunday, October 11, Kawasumi and INAC Kobe Leonessa defeated Mynavi Vegalta Sendai in Japan’s Nadeshiko League. INAC scored an early goal in the 9th minute and tallied another two goals in the 61st and 64th minute. INAC kept Mynavi Vegalta Sendai off the scoreboard to earn a 3-0 shutout, moving them up to 3rd place on the table. Kawasumi was available off the bench but did not enter the match this past weekend. Kawasumi and INAC will look to move up the leaderboard as they take on 2nd place NTV Beleza on Sunday.
