How Acquired: Trade with Reign FC (01/14/19)

Bio: Nahomi Kawasumi first joined the NWSL in 2014 for the Seattle Reign on loan from Japanese Club INAC Kobe Leonessa. During that season she scored nine goals and tallied five assists in just 20 matches. Following the season she returned to Japan only to be signed by the Reign to a full contract in 2016.

While with INAC, Kawasumi made 144 appearances and scored 58 goals. With the club she won three consecutive Nadeshiko Div. 1 league title from 2010-13. Additionally, in 2013 she was awarded the Nadeshiko League MVP.

Upon her return to the Reign, Kawasumi played in 48 matches and recorded 14 assists, including a league-high nine in 2017.

As part of the Japanese national team, Kawasumi has played in 90 matches and scored 20 goals. As a member of the Nadeshiko, she has won the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup and runner-up in both the 2012 London Olympics and the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
