BIO: Imani Dorsey was the no. 5 overall selection by Sky Blue FC in the 2018 NWSL College Draft. The Duke University graduate opted to finish up her degree before joining the club full-time and making her professional debut against the Washington Spirit on June 8. Despite playing in just 13 total games during the 2018 season, Dorsey still finished the year with a team-leading four goals (tied with Katie Johnson and Carli Lloyd) while also adding an assist. Her four goals were also the highest total among NWSL rookies this season, leading her to being voted the 2018 NWSL Rookie of the Year.
Dorsey is the second Sky Blue FC player to receive NWSL Rookie of the Year accolades over the past three years, joining teammate and 2016 winner Raquel Rodriguez as a recipient of the honor.
The Maryland native was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Year in 2017 and received United Soccer Coaches First Team All-America accolades. Last fall, she had a standout senior campaign at Duke, leading the Blue Devils with 47 shots, 38 points and a team-best 14 goals. Additionally, she recorded five game-winners and made 25 starts. She also went on an incredible offensive run where she scored a goal in six straight contests.
Internationally, Dorsey has competed within the U.S. Women’s National Team system at the U-15, U-17, U-18 and U-19 levels.
